In celebration of Veljo Tormis’ 95th anniversary, everyone is welcome to take part in the worldwide TORMIS 95: VÕISTULAULMINE / SINGING CONTEST! 🎶
At the heart of Tormis’ work is song, but music carries an emotion that can inspire new creations and therefore – creators from all artistic fields are welcome to participate!
Be part of the grand tribute and win a trip to Tormis’ birthplace Kõrveaia (Estonia)! 🏆✨
How to participate?
✅ Choose your favorite song from Veljo Tormis’ repertoire
✅ Record your performance in any format – even with a smartphone!
✅ Upload your video to YouTube and share the link with us
✅ Social media posts and tags with the hashtag #Tormis95 are welcome!
✅ To participate with other mediums (e.g., composition, dance, poetry, visual arts, etc.) submit a photo or link to your work, along with a creative statement explaining how your piece relates to Veljo Tormis’ legacy.
🥁 The winners will be selected by an international jury, evaluating emotional impact, interpretation of the song’s content, technical quality, and creative approach. Special attention will be given to originality, the interpretation of Tormis’ work, and how well the piece captures his distinctive sound and artistic vision.
All submitted works will be compiled into a special video collage, which we will watch together on a big screen at Veljo Tormis’ birthplace in Kõrveaia and share globally via YouTube Premiere! 🌍🎥
